Create a normal out4 event and set the type to Tournament. That unlocks two ticket roles in the same checkout: Competitor and Spectator. Your entry fee is just the competitor ticket price — free works too.

Registration closes, the door scanner checks players in, and every checked-in competitor lands in a single- or double-elimination bracket. No-shows get dropped automatically before round one.

Yes — set the competitor ticket to free. It still counts as registration, still scans at the door, and players still get their you're-up pushes. out4 has always supported free tickets; a free bracket costs literally nothing to run.
A normal out4 ticket in the same checkout — free or paid, your call — plus the live bracket and standings on the event page. Your locals stop being invisible to everyone who isn't competing.
Single and double elimination, seeded from check-in, with manual score reporting. That's deliberate — see “We're not start.gg” above. If your format needs Swiss pools or seeding waves, a dedicated tournament platform will serve you better, and that's fine by us.
